Hello Dean,

Thanks for the comment and for letting me know the improvements you are making to the Nutricentre 404 page.

The 404 error page is still quite hard to work out what is going on so the styling work you mention would help to make it a bit more clear to users.

Plus, I found the custom 404 page only displayed when typing in a URL such as:

http://www.nutricentre.com/testing.aspx

Which redirects me to:

http://www.nutricentre.com/PageNotFound.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/testing.aspx

If I try typing in a URL such as:

http://www.nutricentre.com/testing

The server default page still displays so all possibilities are not being captured here.

Similarly, if someone just misses off .aspx and tries going to:

http://www.nutricentre.com/bestsellers

They will get the not so helpful or nice to look at server default page.

Hi we have now built our 404 error page (though still some styling work to be done!)

It now not only allows you to go back to the homepage but also has a predictive search based on the incorrect url.

THanks

My experience of shopping online with Tesco, on the rare occasions I have done so has been pretty good. Good reply from the admin guy from TEsco, Tom, it shows really good customer care. Thumbs up Tesco.!

This news does, and doesn't, surprise me. Tesco should really know better, although I see that subsequent comment suggest extenuating circumstances. However, they are in good (or bad) company, depending upon how you look at it. Check out the Littlewoods website, littlewoods.com, which doesn't even have a basic 301 re-direct in place and you end up with an error page if you enter the website is the address bar without the 'www'. The words error and schoolboy sping to mind...

Hello Dean,

Thanks for your comments and for letting me know about your site relaunch coming soon.

I hope it all goes well and I look forward to having a good look around once the new website is finished.

Many thanks again for taking the 404 error pages into account with your site redesign and I'm sure you will get it sorted.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi

Thanks for the write up on our (The Nutri Centre) 404 error pages. Were currently in the process of upgrading our site and when the site is relaunched the 404 error pages will be changed.

If a customer on our site tries to access a pagename that doesn't exist, they will be presented with a customised 404 page that will inherit the look and feel of our homepage. This page will also be configured to recommend pages on your site based on the incorrect address the customer tried to go to. This can help cut down on abandons and customer frustration.

Many thanks!
