Our website testing services are broken down into 3 main areas – Testing Packages, Testing Audits and Ongoing Testing.

Testing Packages – Features:

  • Quick turnaround – for when time is short (typically within 48 hours*)
  • Issues are recorded using bug tracking software or spreadsheet so bugs can easily be assigned to be fixed
  • Used in preparation for launching a new or revised web site or set of updates to an existing web site

* Timescales confirmed at the point of order acceptance and will vary depending on the size of the web site and type of testing to be completed. Wherever possible we attempt to complete the testing within 48 hours.

Quick turnaround testing packages – when time is short

Static web site testing package:

  1. Navigate to each page checking formatting and page layout whilst clicking on each and every link and proof reading copy.
  2. Test main functions of the web site including site search and newsletter signup if there is one.
  3. Check that each page displays correctly in each of the main browsers and resolutions**.
  4. Check that the legal stuff is in place including terms & conditions, privacy policy and terms of use, as required. Please note that we will not be in a position to check the content of the legal pages, just make sure they are there and displaying content correctly.
  5. Check that text version and any other accessibility features work such as increasing text size.
  6. Check that the code is standards compliant including the HTML and CSS.
  7. Run tests to ensure that the site does not suffer from any of the main security attacks such as XSS scripting attacks for instance.
  8. Check that anywhere that a user submits a form such as a contact form, competition entry or feedback form submits correctly and the data is captured in a database or is emailed.
  9. Check that Google Analytics is in place or whatever is used to track statistics.
  10. Check that each page has a title tag set and meta tags if possible, also check that the main images have alt tags.
  11. Check that there is a custom 404 page in place.
  12. Assistance in drawing up a launch checklist plus a further testing checklist if required.
  13. Report showing testing completed.
  14. Specific items logged in bug tracking software.

Cost – £445.00 (based on a 12 page web site, £45 per page above 12 pages)

Content managed web site testing package:

  1. All items in the static web site testing package, including;
  2. Main functions that the content management system is capable of such as editing content on pages, adding a new page and changing the order of articles (this will greatly depend on your content management system).

Cost – £595.00 (based on a 12 page web site with content management system, £59 per page above 12 pages)

Ecommerce web site testing package:

  1. All items in the content managed web site testing package, including:
  2. Submitting test payments to ensure that the checkout and payment processing is fully working.
  3. Additional security checks with regards to SSL certificates.
  4. Spot checking of product details and pricing.

Web site with login area testing package:

  1. All items in the static web site testing package, including;
  2. Testing of main functions behind login screen.
  3. Browser compatibility testing of these functions.

Web application testing package:

Pricing and test plan available on request because it depends on the application and its functions to be able to put together a reasonable estimate of time and cost involved.

Testing Audits:

Our standard testing audit includes the following items:

  • Validation of HTML to ensure that it validates correctly. Report will contain any errors or warnings given.
  • Validation of CSS to ensure that it validates correctly. Report will contain any error or warnings given.
  • Completion of an Accessibility test including manual checks of key accessibility checkpoints.
  • Completion of a Link check to test both internal and external links plus investigation of results.
  • Completion of a three user Usability test using UserTesting.com including video and results summary.
  • Completion of main Security checks.
  • Completion of Browser Compatibility checks** and inclusion of screenshots on different browsers within audit.
  • Completion web site statistics checks if access to statistics software is granted (to be used for benchmarking purposes).
  • Completion of SEO analysis to test the web site for the major SEO aspects.
  • Completion of a Performance analysis to determine load times for all page components and graphics.

These 10 aspects to the standard testing audit will be backed up by the completion of manual tests and checks to confirm results and provide further detail on any areas of concern. The results will be used to benchmark against further audits potentially produced in the future.

Ongoing Testing:

Monthly link check:

Our monthly link check goes beyond just running a report each month. We will investigate any problem links reported and manually go through the issues in order to provide a resolution for each one.

Cost – from £23.50 per month for up to 100 pages

Site availability monitoring:

Any downtime experienced by your web site can be critical to your business, losing you potential sales, enquiries and credibility. It is important to know whether your web site is out of action for any period of time so that you can do something about it such as take your hosting company to task on their SLA or even move your web hosting if it is not performing well enough

Cost – from £15.95 per month for monitoring every 60 minutes

Site performance monitoring

We are able to offer more advanced monitoring to ensure that the availability of your login system your complete checkout process is tracked to ensure the continued uptime of critical areas of your web site.

Retained service:

We can provide a retained service to your agency or company to be available to carry out testing of any web projects on an ongoing basis. Please contact us for further details.

** Our standard list of supported web browsers are IE6, IE7, IE8, Firefox 3 (Windows and Mac) and Safari (Mac). Resolutions are checked on 1024 x 600 and 1280 x 800 as standard. Further browsers and resolutions can be tested upon request.
